|
The class continues this year's theme of analyzing the first pasuk (line) of the parsha. Rabbi Paltiel draws on Rashi, Ramban, Rashbam, Baal HaTurim, Abarbanel, Alshich, and a ma'amar to address the following three questions: 1. Why is it relevant in the Torah to describe the passing of Sarah? 2. Why does the pasuk follow a pattern of klal - prata - klal (general - specific - general)? 3. Why does the word "shana" (years) appear three times (instead of one) in the description of 127 years? Intermediate level class. 57.52 minutes.
